School Committee, EGHS Library Renovation, Live Music & More
Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, July 12.

EGHS library discussion: The School Committee and the School Buildings Oversight Committee will meet together tonight to discuss a proposal to modernize the library at the high school. That has been at the top of the list of “extra” items to be considered with the money left over from the $52 million bond issue that was passed in order to build a new middle school, renovate the high school science wing and entrance and complete other, smaller, projects. In a change from the usual meeting place, they will meet at the Police Department Community Room at 7pm.
School Committee meeting: After the School and Buildings Oversight committees meet tonight (see above), the School Committee will sit down for its regular session. On the agenda is - yet again - the memorandum of understanding between the town and the schools on school ball fields. Also on the agenda is Superintendent Victor Mercurio’s proposal for the choral program now that the choral director - Jan Breindenbach - has taken the job of music teacher at Frenchtown and Meadowbrook schools. The meeting takes place at the Police Department's Community Room. The regular session will begin following the joint meeting listed above.
Downtown Planning Initiative: This group of volunteers has undertaken a variety of measures to improve the quality of life for both residents and businesses downtown. The meeting takes place at Town Hall at 7pm.
Reflexology for seniors: Karen Davis is available for 30-minute appointments between 9 and 1pm at Swift Community Center. She will massage hands or feet. Call Erin at Swift for an appointment for today, or for Friday, when Davis returns. The cost is $15.
Live music: Country music - live - happens every Tuesday night at Harbourside from 7 to 9pm. Or try out Open Mic Night at the Greenwich Hotel. It starts at 8:30pm.
