Showers, T-Storms to Start Next Week before Sunny Stretch

After great weather this weekend, showers and possible thunderstorms will return to the area to start next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers are expected to arrive Monday afternoon into the night and will last on and off through Tuesday night. But don’t fear — warmer weather, especially inland, returns on Wednesday.

In fact, it will feel like summer for most of Rhode Island through the rest of the week with high temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s. Nighttime lows will only dip into the lower 60s.

It will be substantially cooler on the coast, thanks to cool ocean temperatures. Expect highs in the lower 70s Wednesday through Saturday.

Here’s the local forecast for East Greenwich:

Monday: A slight chance of showers after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 69. South wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. South wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7am, then a chance of showers between 7am and 9am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 77.
