Littleneck Victory For Avenger Hockey Squad
The final out come of the Littleneck Classic game was 3 to 1 Moses Brown, East Greenwich finished in second place on Tuesday at West Warwick Civic Center.
The Avenger hockey team took on the Moses Brown team in its annual Littleneck Classic Tournament. After watching North Kingston get beat by Coventry 5 to 1, the team felt that they too could beat a division one team.
The first period started off at a high pace and the Avengers were quickly on the defense realizing they would have to adjust their game to accommodate Moses Brown. After Connor Finn made some amazing saves EG woke up and they were able to generate many good scoring chances. Both teams finished the period scoreless and looked to capitalize in the next period.
Both teams looking for a goal lead to a second period where both teams were going back and forth. Despite having a power play, East Greenwich could not put the puck in the net. Then, halfway through the second Moses Brown scored.

East Greenwich, then stepped up their game trying to get back in the game. The Avengers went into the period at the close down 1 to o. They would have to come out flying in order to come back.
As the started of the third period came, the Avengers seemed ready. They started off killing a penalty and were able to keep Moses Brown from scoring. Then off a fast break and a couple of quick passes Corey Bucco was able to score assisted by Merrick Villenueve.

Moses Brown however was able to come back right making the score 2 to 1. East Greenwich fought back hard but was unable to score. And with one minute left, they pulled their goalie to try and tie the game at two.
After many good chances, they couldn't rally to get the point. Moses Brown tapped in another goal with 30 seconds left in the game on an open net, making the final score 3 to 1. East Greenwich looks forward to their final 2 games of the season. Friday night they will take on Narragansett High School and URI, as well as Saturday night at Thayer Arena against Tolgate High School.
