Updated: State Police Say Teen Died In Exeter Crash Monday Afternoon

EXETER, RI — Rhode Island State Police are investigating a fatal single-car crash that occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon on Victory Highway, Route 102, in Exeter, near the intersection of Route 3.
Andrew M. Oliveira, 17, of West Warwick was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the West Warwick teenager died after his Subaru crashed into a tree and rolled over on Victory Highway (Route 102).

According to Capt. Matthew Moynihan, the teenager was driving a 1999 Subaru sedan south on Route 102 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to turn into Barber’s Trailer Park, on the Exeter-West Greenwich line. Ultimately, the vehicle struck a tree and rolled over.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash at this time. The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation by members of the Rhode Island State Police Hope Valley Barracks, Forensic Services Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit.
