OLM School will be hosting the second annual Thomas G. Cavanagh 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, May 17. The day begins with packet pick-up and walk-in registration at 7:30 a.m. and a kids’ fun run at 8:30 a.m.. The 5K begins at 9:00 a.m. The certified 5K course, slightly adjusted from last year’s race, will begin and end at OLM school. Proceeds from the race will support the Thomas G. Cavanagh Scholarship at Our Lady of Mercy School. Tom was a former student and parishioner of OLM and his family has founded the scholarship in his memory. According to Joseph V. Cavanagh, Jr., Tom’s father, "The Cavanagh family is very pleased that this community event, being held in Tom's memory for the second consecutive year, will assist young students to be able to attend Our Lady of Mercy School which has meant so much to us over the years." Those wishing to register for the race may do so at www.imathlete.com (search for “Thomas Cavanagh Scholarship Run”), or visit www.tgcfund.org for Tom’s story and further information. Runners may also visit www.olmschool.org for registration forms. Early packet pickup, as well as a one-day in-person registration, will be held on Friday, May 16 at 2:30 p.m. in the OLM school parking lot.
