It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do this summer weekend. Luckily, there are fun and interesting events happening in East Greenwich and beyond to put on your calendar. Check out the Patch picks for the best activities to hit and places to explore in your free time.
1.
One of Rhode Island’s largest agricultural events, the fair features live concerts from today’s country music stars. The main stage pine grove is the place to relax and enjoy some of music’s hottest acts.

Admission also includes access to all daily concerts, special acts and events, the giant midway and kiddy land area (all ride tickets and games separate), all agricultural events and shows, exhibits and displays, tractor and horse pulls, the farm museum, and more.
For the thrill seeker, the Midway is full of the rides you look forward to every year, and for the second year, the Midway will feature New England’s largest traveling roller coaster.

Why Go: Avenger alums are encouraged to unite and enjoy a morning walk in the park. While you’re at it, why not bring a picnic and stay for lunch?

Where/When: 194 Bellevue Avneue, Newport, RI; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: In celebration of the 130th anniversary of the event that inspired the U.S. Open, the International Tennis Hall of Fame is holding an 1881 Celebration, complete with a re-enactment of the first national championship played by tennis players in old-fashioned sportswear, and hands-on activities for visitors, including wooden-racquet tennis and lawn bowling, period music, entertainment and refreshments.
Pricing: $11 for Adults, $9 for Seniors/Military, Free for Hall of Fame Members and Kids ages 16 and under

Where/When: Gasbarro’s Wines, 361 Atwells Avenue, Providence; Friday, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Why Go: Singles get to mingle and enjoy fine wine and hors d’oeuvres.

Why Go: Show a little love to one of the top “superfoods,” and do some tasting while you’re at it.
