There's always room in the balcony though, so don't let the numbers keep you away. The meeting begins at 7pm.

Crompton Avenue zone-change request: That pile of unfinished construction sitting on Crompton Avenue hard by the sewage treatment plant has seen a pick-up in work lately. And its future life may no longer be the commercial-residential mix originally proposed. The Town Council will hear a zone-change application tonight. According to a real estate ad, the property is for sale as a multi-family development for $1.4 million.

Tax rate change: When the last month, the 2012 budget previously approved by the Town Council was made law for the fiscal year that began July 1. However, the actual tax rate is not set in stone until assessments are in sometime usually in August. And it looks like the tax rate’s going to be lower than the $17.79 reported at the FTM. Town Manager Bill Sequino will brief the council on the tax rate at tonight’s meeting.

Long Meadow Farms complaint: Also on the council’s agenda tonight is a new-business item regarding a long-running dispute between the residents of Long Meadow Farms and the developer of the housing tract. At , the Town Council gave developer Tom Primeau until June 1 to complete a series of outstanding items at the subdivision. Among the items were trees that needed to be planted and a guardrail and property markers to be installed.

Farmers Market: The East Greenwich Farmers Market at Academy Field takes place this afternoon between 3 and 6pm. Summer’s bounty is indeed beginning to pour forth, so swing by to pick up all the fixings you’ll need for a delicious summer supper.
