Woman Charged with DUI After Nearly Crashing into Police Car

Police said Donna M. Noonan, 49,was arrested in East Greenwich on July 1.

A 49-year-old Coventry woman was arrested by East Greenwich police on July 1 for driving under the influence after she almost crashed into a Coventry police cruiser on New London Turnpike.

Police said Donna M. Noonan, of 163 Knotty Oak Road, was arrested at around 9:42 p.m. after she failed a field sobriety test in the parking lot of a Dunkin’ Donuts.

According to a police report, two Coventry units had stopped Noonan after she nearly crashed into one of their cruisers while they were transporting a prisoner.

East Greenwich police responded to the scene to perform the sobriety test.

She was taken into custody without incident and later released on personal recognizance with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on July 10.

Noonan was also charged with refusing a chemical test.
