2 Displaced After East Providence House Fire

It took crews about 50 minutes to get the fire under control, which fire officials said was started by a space heater.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Two adults were displaced following a house fire Sunday in East Providence, fire officials said.

Capt. Brian Poland said the call for the fire came in around 3 p.m., and firefighters found a fire on the second floor of the home.

It took crews about 50 minutes to get the fire under control, which Poland said was started by a space heater.

"We narrowed it down to a space heater," Poland said. "It was considered accidental. Whether it was a malfunction or whether it was unattended, we aren't sure yet.

Poland said everyone got out of the house safely, and no injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is helping the residents while they remain displaced.
