3rd Person Faces Murder Charge In Shooting At E. Providence Barbershop
Derek Winslow, 50, is one of three people charged in connection to the death of barber Yusef A'Vant.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — An indictment was returned against a Providence man in connection to the 2014 shooting death of a barber in East Providence, Attorney general Peter Neronha's office said Friday.
Derek Winslow, 50 was charged with murder and discharge of a firearm while in the commission of a crime of violence. He's one of three people to face charges in connection to the death of Yusef A'Vant. Winslow was arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Monday.
According to court documents, WInslow, along with Thomas Mosely and Evan Watson shot and killed A'Vant at an East Providence barbershop on April 13, 2014.

In 2020, Mosely was found guilty and was sentenced serve consecutive life sentences at the ACI in Cranston.
In 2016, Watson pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing. He's been held at the ACI sinc ehis arrest.
