Alvin K. Remscheid, 79
He was an electrical engineer for General Electric before retiring and moving to Rumford.

Alvin K. Remscheid, of Rumford, East Providence, passed away on Jan. 20, 2013, at the Evergreen Nursing Home in East Providence. He was 79.
He was the son of the late Emil Remscheid and the late Alice (Eifert) Remscheid. Born in Schenectady, he grew up in Scotia, NY.
He served in the U.S. Army. He graduated in electrical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He spent his career working for General Electric's East Coast district, living in Cambridge, Mass.
He did trouble-shooting for many types of GE equipment, including work at the paper mills of Maine, and much work on the new Boston subway cars. He donated much of his father's collection of Steinmetz material to the museum in Schenectady.
After retirement, he moved to Rumford, and spent some years caring for his mother.
Remscheid is survived by his sister, Virginia Charves, two nephews, Walter Charves, and Michael Charves, all of Rumford, and a niece Greta Carpenter of Austin, Texa,s and grand nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service today, Jan. 24, at 11:30 am in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Rumford Cemetery, East Providence.
