The Huskies dropped season openers in girls' soccer, tennis, and volleyball, while boys' soccer impressed in an Injury Fund win, setting up a busy early schedule against regional rivals.

โข Rhode Island Foundation gives out $5.4M in Grants for Housing, Food, Health Care and Police Training (rinewstoday.com) โ East Providence's Boys & Girls Club is among organizations benefiting as the Rhode Island Foundation awards $5.4 million to nonprofits for housing, food, health care, education, environmental work and police crisis-training. While many grants are statewide, this round specifically supports youth programs serving East Providence alongside communities like Pawtucket, Warwick and Woonsocket, as part of the foundation's five-year action plan.

โข Coventry Meeting Sept. 2 on Tiogue Lake Management Plan (upriseri.com) โ East Providence's Central Pond/Turner Reservoir is part of a new state project developing lake management plans, alongside Tiogue Lake in Coventry and other Rhode Island waterbodies.
