• Police identify Providence man whose body was recovered from water (coastalabc.com) — Authorities have identified a 54-year-old Providence man whose body was recovered Sunday after he went missing while kayaking from the Gano Street boat ramp, with a barge captain bringing him to a dock on the East Providence side. Police say there are no signs of foul play so far, and the state medical examiner and detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
• Deaton says Markey's rhetoric led someone to smash his law office window (boston.com) — A Republican U.S. Senate candidate says his East Providence law office window was smashed last week, though local police currently do not believe the vandalism was targeted and are still investigating. He blames his opponent's rhetoric for creating a hostile climate, while both he and the Markey campaign publicly thank East Providence police and condemn any political violence.
