Dunkin' Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation $50K grant benefits RI Community Food Bank
The Northeast chapter of the Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation (DDBRCF) recently provided a $50,000 grant to regional food banks across the Northeast. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank will be reaping the benefits of this grant. The funds will be used to support the food bank’s Community Kitchen job-training program. During the next year, it will conduct four Community Kitchen classes with up to 13 students enrolled in each class. Following graduation, the goal is to place each student in an entry-level, food service position with potential advancement opportunities. The program has successfully achieved a 94% job placement rate within up to one year post graduation, with many placed within the first three months.
In total, 12 regional food banks have been impacted by the DDBRCF grant, ultimately spreading the mission to end hunger throughout the Northeast.
To celebrate the grant, more than 25 employees of Dunkin’ Donuts, including area franchisees and corporate employees, volunteered their time at the Greater Boston Food Bank in Massachusetts. Their volunteer day helped to sort 2,856 meals and their grant was enough to provide 16,520 meals to hungry families and individuals across Eastern Massachusetts.
