Armed Bank Robbery Suspect's Luck Runs Out At Casino

Police said the Walpole man is wanted in connection to armed bank robberies in two Rhode Island and two Massachusetts communities.

PLAINVILLE, MA — A Walpole man who police said is wanted for multiple armed bank robberies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island was arrested while gambling at a casino Wednesday afternoon. Joseph Hickson, 31, was spotted at Plainridge Park Casino and taken into custody without incident by Massachusetts State Police and East Providence police.

Hickson was booked as a fugitive from justice at the state police barracks in Foxborough. Police said he is a suspect in armed bank robberies in East Providence, R.I., Cranston, R.I., and Franklin and Walpole in Massachusetts.

East Providence police said he robbed the Washington Trust Bank on Tuesday.

Hickson will be arraigned Thursday morning in Wrentham District Court.
