Artists Wanted to Paint Mural on Wampanoag Trail Overpass

The Rhode Island of Transportation is holding a pre-proposal meeting at 9 a.m. today for muralists to ask questions.

The scenery along I-195 is about to get a bit brighter. 

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking proposals from qualified outdoor muralists to paint a wall along I-195's Wampanoag Trail overpass. This is part of a project spearheaded by Governor Lincoln Chafee's office.

The mural's design depicting a fleet of sailboats has been selected by a committee and is included in the project's RFP. The mural needs to be completed by May 25, 2012.

A pre-proposal meeting to review the RFP and ask questions of DOT staff is set for March 27 at 9 a.m. at the Rhode Island Department of Transportation's Traffic Management Center Conference Room located at 2 Capitol Hill in Providence.
