BAY VIEW ACADEMY HONORED TO WELCOME HIS EXCELLENCY, BISHOP THOMAS J. TOBIN, OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF PROVIDENCE

East Providence, RI – Bay View Academy was honored to have His Excellency, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, preside over Thanksgiving Mass on Tuesday, November 26th. The entire Academy, from preschool girls through grade twelve, as well as all faculty and staff, gathered for the liturgy, which began and ended in joyful song provided by the Academy’s choir.

Following the Mass, all were invited to a reception to honor Bishop Tobin. Faculty, administrators, staff and students enjoyed the opportunity to gather as a community, share a meal together and speak with the Bishop.

Bay View Academy, faculty and staff were presented with their traditional Portuguese Sweet Bread as a token of gratitude for their dedication and service to the students of Bay View. This year, each student received a small Sweet Bread of their own. The breads were baked by Great Harvest Bread Co. of North Kingstown, RI, which is owned by a Bay View family. Bishop Tobin, Father Jeremy Rodrigues, Adminstrative Secretary to the Bishop, and Father Peter Mongeon, were also given a Sweet Bread in gratitude. Each of the 850 loaves distributed bore a tag that read, “In this season of gratitude, we want to thank you for being an important part of the St. Mary Academy – Bay View community. Happy Thanksgiving!”
