Bay View Students, Staff Take the Ice Bucket Challenge; Challenge Prout, Sophia Academy

After taking the ice bucket challenge for ALS on their last day of summer break today, Bay View Academy now challenges the Prout School.

More than 20 Bay View Academy students, administrators, faculty and their family members came to campus to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge on the last day of summer break, August 22nd. Upper School Principal, Colleen Gribbin (Cumberland, RI), showed her support, receiving a dousing of ice water at the hands of Bay View juniors, Mikaela Lee (North Scituate, RI) and Dakota Grenier (Coventry, RI).

The call to “dump and donate” and “bring your own bucket” went out via Facebook and Twitter to the Bay View community Thursday afternoon, after the challenge was issued to Bay View by La Salle Academy (Providence, RI). La Salle was nominated for the Ice Bucket Challenge by fellow Rhode Island Catholic high school, Saint Raphael Academy (Pawtucket, RI).

Bay View Academy now invites The Prout School (Wakefield, RI) and Sophia Academy (Providence, RI) to meet the challenge. Bay View’s collection will be sent to benefit ALS research at the John Paul II Medical Research Institute.
