City Business Owners Summoned to Hearing for Serving Liquor to Minors

Owners of city restaurants, clubs and a liquor store could be fined at a Tuesday, Nov. 15 show cause hearing.

Eight business owners were ordered to appear before East Providence City Council members on Tuesday, Nov. 15, for a show cause hearing after they allegedly served alcohol to high school minors in September. The sting was facilitated by the .

According to Mayor Bruce Rogers, this is the second liquor license violation for the East Buffet Restaurant owner within three months. The owner, Wendy Lin, is also being charged with failing to show up at a previously scheduled council hearing. Council members could fine the restaurant $1,000 and shut operations for three days.

As for the rest of the businesses, this is owners' first offenses. They could face fines depending on the rulings of council members.
