A Class Act Cleanup by EP Dept. of Public Works

The aftermath of Tuesday's storm was a quick recovery in the City of East Providence.

Tuesday’s storm may have taken our residents by surprise, but our well prepared Department of Public Works deployed immediately following to restore our community. East Providence sat directly in the path of the storm that knocked down trees, power lines, and devastated personal property. While some local cities and towns questioned why clean up seemed to be slow, our Parks Division and Highway Department were already fast at work clearing debris and make our roads safe for our residents. The feedback from our residents has been positive with some saying “They did a fantastic job!” (Janet Gausland via Facebook) and “As many do I listen to talk radio most of my work day.. Was nice today to hear more then three people call in from east providence commending how well the public works, and highway department did and is still doing in the aftermath of Monday mornings storm. Everyone else from Cranston and warwick area spent most of this morning calling in complaining about no response, lack of effort. It was nice to see some positive being shown for east providence and their city workers. The response and clean up efforts that I watched at the carousel and larrisa park was amazing.. God everyone is safe and hope everyone gets their electric back soon.. Great work so far EP!” (Tony Ottone Jr. via Facebook).

Mayor Thomas Rose commends the Department stating “ DPW, as always, did a phenomenal job in reacting so quickly to this major microburst. Great job East Providence!”
