Coronavirus: East Providence Building Inspection Update

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI —East Providence has provided new protocols for building inspections as it looks to limit one-on-one contact during the coronavirus crisis. Inspectors will be utilizing social distancing, wear protective gloves where necessary, and will use technology to conduct as much of the inspection as possible remotely.

Inspectors will, when possible, allow the use of photographs or videos in place of an in-person inspection and perform virtual inspections through Facetime, Skype, Zoom and other teleconferencing applications.

If an in-person inspection is needed, the inspector will ask if anyone at the site has been exposed to anyone with the new coronavirus or has been experiencing flu-like symptoms. Information will also be sought on anyone on the job site who may be at a higher risk for infection - including the elderly, pregnant women and immune-suppressed individuals.

Inspectors will follow all R.I. Department of Health and CDC recommendations for protecting themselves and residents.
