EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The historic Crescent Park Looff Carousel is reopening for the 2019 season this Memorial Day Weekend. The nearly 125-year-old carousel has been a Riverside summer classic for generations.

The carousel was built in 1895 by popular designer Charles I.D. Looff. Featuring 62 horses and four chariots, the carousel was designed to be a showcase of Looff's work. Over the decades, it has been a Rhode Island family favorite and was added to the National Register of Historic sites and places in 1976. Since its opening day, the carousel has served more than 11.6 million riders. More information on the carousel's history is available online.

The carousel will be open throughout Memorial Day weekend from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. At this time, the organ is being repaired so music will not be played during rides. Tickets cost $2 or $30 for 20. Tickets never expire and kids under three ride for free.
