East Providence Celebrates Women's History Month

Female leaders spoke to East Providence high schoolers Thursday at an event at City Hall.

Does anyone know any women in history who made a big difference in the world, Elmer Pina, East Providence's affirmative action officer, asked a group of high school girls Thursday.

How about women who made a big difference in East Providence?

The students got a lesson in women leaders as the city celebrated Women's History Month with an Event at City Hall.

Councilwoman Katie Kleyla gave a presentation of her top ten list of coolest women, which included Eva Peron, Ella Fitzgerald, Joan of Arc, Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa and Eleanor Roosevelt. 

She also spoke of getting elected as a councilwoman just a few years out of college.
