East Providence Looking for Finance Director—Updated

The city has advertised for the position, which is currently filled by an interim director.

East Providence is looking for a finance director and water superintendent.

The city has advertised for the position on the website for the Massachusetts Municipal Association. It was posted Wednesday.

East Providence currently has an interim director of finance, Donald Gray.

Asked Thursday about the posting, Mayor Bruce Rogers pointed out that Gray had only been appointed as an interim.

"I think this is to allow him to apply for the job permanently," he said of the posting.

City officials have said at public meetings that Gray has had some health problems. Rogers said that Jim McDonald is temporarily working in the position.

The job has a salary range of $89,297 to $103,923. The finance department has 22 full-time employees, according to the city's website.

East Providence has also advertised for a water superintendent. City Engineer Erik Skadberg said that opening is to replace an employee who retired.
