East Providence Man Bitten by Copperhead Snake
So far there's no explanation why the venomous snake, which is illegal to own in Rhode Island, was in John Hunter's driveway.
East Providence’s John Hunter was bitten by a venomous copperhead snake in his driveway on Thursday, police said.
Hunter is listed in good condition at Rhode Island Hospital after receiving anti-venom, according to the Providence Journal.
Police are now trying to figure out where the snake came from since they’re illegal to own in Rhode Island.

The snake, which can cause serious complications for bite victims due to its powerful venom, could have hitched a ride on a vehicle or belonged to an exotic pet owner.
The state Department of Environmental Management is investigating the incident.

Police said Hunter was watering his yard when he was bit and the snake was identified as a copperhead by experts at Roger Williams Park Zoo.
