East Providence Unveils Home Improvement Program
The program will make grants and loans available for homeowners and landlords seeking to make general repairs.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A new grant and loan program in East Providence is designed to help homeowners and landlords get money for general repairs. Mayor Bob DaSilva, in conjunction with the Community Development Office, announced the program last week.
Money can be requested to update old or inefficient heating equipment, replace old windows or siding, or fix leaky or old roofs. The program can also be used for lead paint hazard reduction.
The program offers grants, no-interest deferred payment loans and lower-interest loans to owner-occupied and qualifying rental properties in East Providence. Eligibility is based on income and other factors.

Eligibility guidelines include: those who own a single- or multi-family rental property in East Providence, those whose household income is less than 80 percent of the area median income, adjusted by household size, those whose tenant's household income is less than 80 percent of the area median income, adjusted by household size.
