Whiz Kid: Joao Vicente

School/Organization: Junior, East Providence High School

Accomplishment: Vicente beat a defending New England champion in the 125-pound weight class at the state high school tournament this past weekend. He was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament and is now Rhode Island's 125-pound state champion.

Key to Awesomeness: "I've been a volunteer coach in the East Providence school system for the last 10 years, and Joao's hard work, determination and constant drive to succeed definitely deserve to be recognized," Nathan Faria wrote in an e-mail. "He's been an inspiration to his peers, as well as his coaches."
