East Providence Woman Charged With Child Neglect
Police arrested Marie McMillan and charged her with felony child neglect.

An East Providence woman is facing a felony charge of child neglect after police say she left her 5-year-old daughter home alone.
Police got a call on Jan. 31 of a female vandalizing a vehicle on Winsor Street, according to East Providence police captain Richard Frazier.
When they arrived, they found a drunk woman named Marie McMillan, Frazier said. She admitted she had been drinking a lot, then got belligerent with police and called them "Nazis," he said.

Police brought McMillan, 29, to Rhode Island Hospital to detox, but she never mentioned she had a 5-year-old at her home on Juniper Street, Frazier said. She eventually told hospital staff, who informed police. They got the landlord to open the door and found the 5-year-old sleeping. They also found a small amount of marijuana, Frazier said.
McMillan was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with felony child neglect and possession of marijuana, Frazier said.
