EP Man Was "Teardrop Bandit" Bank Robber in Conn., Police Say

A 37-year-old East Providence man is now in custody in Connecticut for allegedly robbing a bank in Milford in August.

A man who earned the nickname “The Teardrop Bandit” for a string of bank robberies in Connecticut is actually a 37-year-old East Providence man, according to police in Milford, Conn.

And he’s now in police custody.

The Milford Police Department announced Monday morning that they arrested Robert Chadronet, 37, of 400 North Broadway, for robbing a People’s United Bank in their town on Aug. 18.

Milford police were assisted by East Providence police to make the arrest and Chadronet was extradited back to Connecticut where he is being held on a $250,000 bond on the charges of second-degree robbery and third-degree larceny.

Chadronet, who is known as the “Teardrop Bandit” from a string of previous bank robberies, walked into People’s United Bank and handed the bank teller a note stating he had a weapon and demanded cash, police said. He fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.

The nickname reportedly is because of a tattoo under his eye.
