Weaver Library invites you to journey with Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks, the Reading Across Rhode Island 2012 selection. Join readers all over the state for a powerful film screening of We Still Live Here written and directed by Anne Makepeace. Associate producer Jennifer Weston will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterwards.
We Still Live Here tells a remarkable story of cultural revival by the Wampanoag Indians of Southeastern Massachusetts. Their ancestors ensured the survival of the Pilgrims in New England, and lived to regret it. Spurred on by
their linguist Jessie Little Doe Baird, they are now
saying loud and clear, and in their Native tongue, "Âs Nutayuneân," – "We Still Live Here."
