EP PARKS & REC OFFERING TENNIS CLINICS
The East Providence Parks & Recreation Dept. is offering tennis clinics for children and adults on Mondays & Wednesdays beginning July 16, and Kids 10&under "QuickStart" tennis camp from Aug. 6-9, at the Pierce Field Complex, 201 Mercer St. The clinics and camp will be presented by Coastal Quick Tennis, which uses the USTA, (Unites States Tennis Association), and ITF, (International Tennis Federation), teaching methods and curriculum's including Kids 10&under QuickStart. Clinics are geared to learning stroke fundamentals, how to rally, and the basics of playing tennis. The "QuickStart" method accelerates skill development and enhances the competitive experience for young children - and it's fun! QuickStart utilizes age-appropriate court sizes, modified equipment, and a progression of balls with increasing pressures, starting with foam and including red, orange and green balls before the standard yellow tennis balls. "The format offers young players a fun, safe, and sensible way to start playing the game" says Patrick McEnroe, USTA general manager of player development.
Youth tennis clinics will take place on Mon. & Wed. mornings, and are available in Kids 10&under QuickStart and Juniors, (ages 11-14), from July 16 to Aug. 1. The adult clinics will be on Mon. & Wed. evenings, also from July 16 - Aug. 1, in the evenings for beginners and intermediates. The fee for the clinics is $65 for youth or adults.
