EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A fire in the first floor of a raised ranch took East Providence firefighters about half an hour to put out, according to Battalion Chief Stephen Whitaker.The call came in around 10:23 a.m., he said. Two ladder trucks and four engines and a rescue responded.No one was injured, he said, and there were no pets involved."The fire was in a couple of rooms" on the first floor, he said.
