Firefighters' Contract, Sale of Grove Avenue School to Be Discussed Tonight

The City Council meets tonight at City Hall.

Interim City Manager Orlando Andreoni plans to update the East Providence City Council on the financial impact of tentative agreements with the firefighters' union at its meeting tonight, according to the agenda.

The time period covered by the agreements dates back to Nov. 1, 2009, and would go through Oct. 31, 2014. The City Council is then expected to vote on the tentative contracts and an agreement.

Andreoni also plans to address the sale of the Grove Avenue School to Ocean State Montessori. The City Council and School Committee have discussed whether the $450,000 in proceeds from the sale should go back to the school division or to the city's fund.

The open meeting is scheduled to begin at City Hall at 7:30 p.m.
