Firefighters Douse Porch Fire on Farrell Place

The fire was knocked down in short order, according to Battalion Chief Glenn J. Quick, and the cause is still under investigation.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—Firefighters responded around 9 a.m. on Thursday to 1 Farrell Place for a working fire.

On arrival, they found a fire on the porch of a wood structure.

"It was a very minor fire," said Battalion Chief Glenn J. Quick. It was knocked down quickly. He estimated all units cleared within an hour to 90 minutes.

Fire Prevention has been called in to determine the cause, which is still under investigation.

Three engines, two ladder trucks, one rescue, a special hazards unit, the battalion chief car responded as did police and fire prevention.
