Get Those Recycling Bins Out to the Curb!
The city could see decreased garbage fees if more people participate.

Uh, wasn't it just Garbage Night last week? Time to get those blue and green recycling bins out to the curb!
Starting Monday, East Providence is enforcing the "No Bin/No Barrel Total Participation Recycling Program." That means if you don't get your recyclables out to the curb, collectors might not pick up your garbage either. And you should leave your emptied recyclables bins at the curb until your garbage is picked up.
The city started the program in June 2009, according to a news release. Since then, the recycling rate has increased from 21 to 27 percent. That has made the city eligible to receive a discount on garbage fees.

“If we get the recycling rate back to 27% or more, the City could receive more than $100,000.00 in revenue share and discounted fees,” Steve Mutter, East Providence's Recycling Coordinator, said in the release. “A vast majority of the residents are participating in the program, we just need to get everyone on board to help save valuable tax dollars from going into the landfill.”
You can get recycling bins for $5 at City Hall on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also exchange broken bins for free. Questions? Call 435.7710 or 435.7711 or check the website.
