Grand Jury Indicts Man for Sexual Assault & Setting Ex's House on Fire

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—Jospeph Masi, 30, of Providence, has been indicted by the Providence Grand Jury, Atty. Gen. Peter Kilmartin said today.

Masi is being charged with first degree arson, domestic burglary, domestic assault with a dangerous weapon and first degree sexual assault.

"It is alleged that on or about Aug. 29, 2016, in the City of East Providence, Masi physically and sexually assaulted a woman with whom he was in a relationship. It is further alleged that he burglarized and then set fire to her residence," Kilmartin's office said.

The East Providence Police investigated the case. Masi will be arraigned in Providence Superior Court on Dec. 14.
