Heat Wave Brings Business to East Bay Ice Company [VIDEO]
Looking for a place to cool off today? East Bay Ice may be your best bet in town.
Today's heat wave is causing both temperatures and business to soar at East Bay Ice Company on S. Broadway.
The East Providence-based company has been rapidly producing ice today, July 22, to meet the demands of customers who are battling temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
The East Bay Ice Company produces their ice in underground cooling machinery on premises. The ice is then cut into cubes or can be sold into blocks.

The company also has a freezer to hold all of their ice. Generally the freezer is 28 degrees Fahrenheit internally, but because of the heat today, the temperature has increased to 31 degrees Fahrenheit, according to employee Heidi St. Laurent.
Still, at 31 degrees, that's nearly 70 degrees cooler than the temps outside.

"Business has been pretty busy today," St. Laurent said.
