High School Basketball Coach Arrested on Domestic

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Police on Sunday arrested Michael Solitro, 36, of East Providence, at his home after they were called to that address for a possible domestic assault. A woman met officers at the door and said her friend has been assaulted.

The alleged victim, an adult woman, was inside the home. Police found her holding an ice pack to her face and also observed a small amount of blood. Based on probable cause, they charged Solitro with simple Domestic assault.

According to multiple news sources, he is the girls' basketball coach at East Providence High. The Providence Journal reported the school district has placed him on administrative leave.
