High School Gets Cash for Arts

Bob's Discount Furniture has selected East Providence High School for one of its monthly recipients for a $1,000 donation for arts programs.

Bob’s Discount Furniture announced last week that it will donate funds to seven schools in Rhode Island in support of arts and education programs, including East Providence High School.

These funds are made possible by customer donations to collection jars located in the cafes found in every Bob’s store. The cafes offer free refreshments, including gourmet coffee and fresh-baked cookies, to all Bob’s shoppers, according to Bob's.

“Our monthly school donations are a great way for us to show our appreciation to the communities that support our stores,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We hope the funds will help these Rhode Island schools add to education and arts programs for the students.”

Every month, Bob’s randomly selects seven schools in the communities near its stores and makes a donation of $1,000 to each one, she said.

Bob’s has donated money to hundreds of schools over the past 20 years, said Poulin. Previous recipients have used the donations for such things as purchasing new art and classroom supplies, funding student activity groups and going on field trips.
