High School Senior Wins Gold Key Award

East Providence Council members honored high school artists for their work shown at the Weaver Library.

East Providence High School student Sarah Phillips along with her artistically inclined peers were recognized for their work shown at the to celebrate during Tuesday night's council meeting. 

According to Ms. Barry, an art teacher at the school, the senior was given a special award for her wicker sculpture of an exotic insect after she was entered in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition sponsored by Salve Regina University. The contest featured a variety of visual art including paintings, fashion, sculptures, and photography.

Sarah's piece won a gold key award, according to reports from The Townie, an East Providence High School student newspaper.
