'Hot Dog Roast' Opens Martin Middle School Year Next Week

Mark your calendar for several events at East Providence's Martin Middle School in September.

East Providence schools open next week and here are a few dates to mark on your calendar if you have a child at Edward R. Martin Middle School.

Principal Frank DeVall and Assistant Principal Cheri Guerra will host a “hot dog roast” for all incoming sixth-grade students and their parents on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The cookout will give new middle school students and their parents an opportunity to meet the staff and “become more comfortable with the surroundings of their new building,” said DeVall.

The cookout runs from 5 to 7 pm.

The school year for all students begins on Thursday, Sept. 5, when doors at the Brown Street school will open at 7:45 am. Sixth-graders should report to the cafeteria. Seventh-graders should report to the auditorium. And eighth-graders should report to the gymnasium.

All students should use the school’s Brown Street entrance, where school buses drop off students.

Other events to remember in September include a sixth-grade “locker night” on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5 to 7 pm, and “Meet the Teachers” night on Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 pm.

“We welcome all new and returning students and parents back from their summer vacation and share in their excitement to begin another school year here at Martin,” said DeVall on behalf of the administrative team.
