Idilia DeSenna, 89

She worked for the Trifari Jewelry Company before retiring and was a member of the Cape Verdean Senior Citizens and Mended Hearts.

Idilia DeSenna, of Mitchellville, Md., formerly of East Providence, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. She was 89.

She was the wife of the late George DeSenna. Born in Brava, Cape Verde Islands, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Maria (Silva) DaRosa.

DeSenna worked for the Trifari Jewelry Company before retiring. She was a member of the Cape Verdean Senior Citizens and was very active with Mended Hearts. She was a communicant of St. Martha's Church.

She leaves two daughters, Maria Lopes of Maryland and Jacqueline Johnson of Washington, D.C.; one son, George D. DeSenna of Maryland; one brother, Rudolph Rose of Providence; one granddaughter, Rachel Senna Lopes of Maryland, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose and Domingos DaRosa.

Calling hours are today, Jan. 9, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from Perry-McStay with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Martha's Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence.
