Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse thanks East Providence businesses and organizations that participated in its recent Business and Community Sponsorship Drive. The focus of this year’s drive was the replacement of The Lighthouse’s chimney. A watertight chimney with a cement cap will prevent debris from entering the first-floor exhibit room and heavy rainfall from entering the flues and flooding the basement exhibit area. The chimney will be built in its unique Victorian design as it appeared when Pomham Rocks was built in 1871. This important New England maritime light station and museum is an integral part of Rhode Island’s heritage and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse acknowledges the support of businesses and groups that have joined in funding this important project. The Annual Pomham Rocks Lighthouse Business and Community Sponsorship Drive donors include Key Sponsor Warr & Warr and Partners Canonicus Lodge #9, Guardian Pest Control and Perry-McStay Funeral Home. Joining as Boosters are State Representative Katherine Kazarian and the Law Office of Michael Lima. Businesses and organizations that would like to participate can email lighthouse1871@cox.net and send a check, payable to Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, to P.O. Box 15121, Riverside, RI 02915. Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse is a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation.
