Live Streaming of Meetings to Resume
Streaming of East Providence City Council and School Committee meetings will resume next Tuesday, April 16.

Can’t make the next East Providence City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 16?
Don’t fret. It will be streamed live and archived for watching on your computer any time you desire to watch it.
The School Committee meeting a week later also will be streamed live and archived, said City Clerk Kim Casci.

Casci received approval to resume the live streaming from the East Providence Budget Commission several weeks ago. But the city needed to replace a cable to make the resumption happen, said Casci.
“We still use an older public-access camera,” she said. “That means we had to change a cable for the new company.”

ClerkBase of Warwick, RI, is taking over the live streaming of the four meetings each month for $6,000 a year -- $7,000 the first year – in a five-year contract, said Casci. The meetings will be archived immediately so they can be watched any time after they end.
How do you watch the meetings on your computer?
Go to the East Providence website. Click on the button on the left for video streaming of city meetings. Then find the appropriate meeting in the selection box. You should be all set to go, said Casci.
East Providence used to stream the meetings. Then the Budget Commission decided the City Clerk’s office could do without the live streaming, which then cost $3,000 a year, said Casci.
The line item in her budget for streaming was crossed out. The streamed meetings ended almost exactly a year ago, May 2012, she said.
Mayor James Briden made it a priority of his first few months in that position, which made him a member of the Budget Commission, to bring live streaming back to East Providence.
The streamed meetings will be back next week. Enjoy.
