Murder Suspect Arrested in El Paso, Texas: East Providence Police Say
James Stevens was wanted in the stabbing death of Jaspar Williams.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—James Stevens, 29, of Providence, has been arrested for the murder of Jasper Williams.
Williams, 24, died at Rhode Island Hospital almost a week after he was stabbed Dec. 10 on Warren Avenue.
Stevens was apprehended by the US Marshals Task Force in El Paso, Texas. The Detective Division of the East Providence Police Department, in cooperation with the RI Division of the US Marshals, the RI Violent Fugitive Task Force, the RI Attorney General’s Office, and the FBI have been working collaboratively to locate Stevens who had been on the run for the past two weeks.

Members of the East Providence Detective Division will be travelling to El Paso to continue the investigation with Texas authorities. Stevens will be brought back to Rhode Island to face Murder charges.
