Potter Street Man Charged With Domestic Abuse
Joseph Botelho was charged with domestic simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A Potter Street man was charged with a felony after officers found him standing over an injured woman surrounded by overturned furniture and a bloodied carpet.
According to an report, Joseph Botelho, of 38 Potter St., was charged with domestic simple assault, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, allegedly his third instance of domestic violence, at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 28.
Officers found a disturbance in progress after a family member flagged down officers in the road and said a man was hitting his mother. When police entered the home, they found a teenage female swinging a vacuum at a woman lying on the floor with Botelho standing near, reads the report. An officer drew a taser and told the teenager to put down the vacuum. Botelho's breath allegedly smelled of alcohol. The room was in disarray. Blood was found on the carpet.

Officers took Botelho out of the house. He then ran from the officers but was apprehended after he fell down in a neighbor's lawn, according to the report. He was then placed in a cruiser. The injured woman was taken to a hospital.
