Projo: House Passes State Budget
The $7.7 billion plan now goes to the Senate for approval.
The House passed a $7.7 billion budget for the state early Saturday, the Projo has reported.
House Finance Committee Chairman Helio Melo, a Democrat from East Providence, said "with this budget, Rhode Island is heading in the right direction," according to Projo.
An effort by Democratic Rep. Roberto DaSilva (East Providence, Pawtucket) to keep bonuses for unionized workers was defeated during the process, according to the Projo.
