Riverside Creamery Serves Up a Flavor for Every Taste
Patch brings you a look at local creameries in anticipation of National Ice Cream Day on Sunday.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday nights, sees car after car pull into their parking lot as a part of the deluge of customers that continues until closing.
The tiny pastel-colored creamery shop, located on the corner of Willett and Turner avenues, has many popular flavors of ice cream, making it difficult to pinpoint just one as best.
In soft serve flavors, both coffee and the vanilla and chocolate twist reign supreme. In hard serve, however, it is a tie between several flavors. Alexandra Whitfield and Ashley Cohen, employees of Riverside Creamery, listed cake batter and cotton candy as popular choices, although traditional chocolate and vanilla also sell well.

Peanut butter lovers tend to gravitate toward either peanut butter caramel cookie dough or chocolate peanut butter cup. All of the Creamery’s hard serve ice cream is delivered by Gifford’s Dairy on Tuesdays.
Lori Mratto opened Riverside Creamery over a decade ago. Since that time, the company has grown to sell over 30 flavors of hard serve ice cream, soft serve ice cream, and sundaes in addition to watermelon and regular Del’s lemonade.

Business at Riverside Creamery this season has been “very good,” Whitfield said, although it is variable.
“Everything depends on the weather,” Whitfield said.
