Santander and NE Revolution Honor Community Organizations

Santander Bank rewards three local non-profit organizations with group tickets and private Revolution clinic

In celebration of their ongoing support of communities across New England, Santander Bank and the New England Revolution today announced three deserving winners in the inaugural Santander Community Revolutionaries contest. Si, Se Puede of Lawrence, MA, Project GOAL of East Providence, RI, and Foster Forward of Providence, RI, were nominated by fans and selected based on their revolutionary contributions to the New England community.

“The winners of our inaugural Santander Community Revolutionaries program - Si Se Puede, Foster Forward and Project GOAL - are true influential members of the New England community” said Cynthia Lariviere, Santander’s region president for Southern and Western New England. “Santander has true admiration and respect for the work and dedication they foster to help those in need. Alongside the New England Revolution, we are excited for the opportunity to bring these great organizations to light.”

All three organizations received 25 Revolution game tickets during the 2018 season, courtesy of Santander Bank, and Si, Se Puede was selected as the Grand Prize winner. The non-profit organization recieved a private clinic for up to 50 guests, featuring Revolution players and Revolution Academy coaches, held at Gillette Stadium, courtesy of Santander Bank. “Si, Se Puede is humbled and honored to receive this recognition for the very important work that we do in support of the youth and families in our community. We are very excited for the opportunity and are energized by the acknowledgement. Thank you for helping Si, Se Puede to grow stronger!” said Lorie Mendoza, the organization’s Executive Director.

“The New England Revolution holds strong and active ties within our community. Our continued partnership with Santander and our new Community Revolutionaries program allows us to honor three organizations,” said Brian Bilello, New England Revolution President. “Giving these community champions the opportunity to be showcased for their ongoing work to serve others is something we at the Revs honor and admire.”

  • Si, Se Puede, of Lawrence, MA

Si, Se Puede (translated “Yes, We Can”) works to enhance educational opportunities in the Lawrence community for low-income youth and their families. The various programs and opportunities include an after-school program, a high school work/study program, a summer program, a children’s clothing co-op, and a newly added college success program. The organization was founded in 1985 in response to the needs of low income families in the Merrimack Courts Housing Project and surrounding lower Tower Hill neighborhood.

  • Project GOAL, of East Providence, RI

Founded in 2004, Project GOAL (Greater Opportunity for Athletes to Learn) provides free opportunities for inner city middle school students by harnessing the passion and power of soccer to inspire academic achievement. The programs offered enable students to build a foundation of social responsibility, teamwork and collaboration. Project GOAL’s mission is to impact students in the classroom and on the field through the reward of soccer training, coaching and free educational programs throughout the school year.

  • Foster Forward, of Providence, RI

Foster Forward supports youth and families in the Providence community. The organization advocates for foster children and families, remaining dedicated to practices that promote permanency and well-being for all young people in foster care. Foster Forward collaborates with other local and national agencies to provide foster parents with the support and resources they need to raise children with the respect they deserve, enabling the children for long-term success.

The three organizations were selected following careful review of each submission against the following criteria: dedication and commitment to the community, sincerity and appropriateness to subject matter.

With a deep respect for the difference makers in our community, Santander Bank and the Revolution were honored to recognize outstanding non-profit groups and community organizations in New England. Santander Bank is the official Bank of the New England Revolution.
