Murder Arrest: Suspicious Death Is A Homicide: East Providence Police

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence police are investigating a death Saturday morning. A woman in her 40's was found in her driveway on Warren Avenue. According to Det. Lt. Blinn, the police received a call at 4 a.m. about an injured woman who had been struck by a vehicle.

"Officers responded and rendered first aid until the rescue arrived," he said. The woman was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where she later died. Her name is not being released pending notification to family.

The "investigation on scene showed that the incident was inconsistent with someone being struck by a motor vehicle," he said. The incident happened behind 85 Warren Ave. Police have not ruled out a car accident but are treating the death as suspicious. More information will be released later today, he said.
